A woman fried of mine has been recomended by her ginecologist the following "fertility" drugs - Chemophilde( Metex Dow ) or a stronger Seronophilde ( Serono ) to get pregnant, the woman is about 42 in good health relatively speaking, had one child only, when she was 37 the amicenthesis test revealed a genetic condition now as mosaicism - where some cell have 1 more chromosomes than normal She was told not to worry about since little bad effects are not from that condition if any - perhaps the girl would have trouble having children. Any way there are not apparent sign of any consequence that are noticeable - in general a normal healthy child. Now there is a new complication, the Uterus has apparently not properly attached to the other organs where it should be the woman had a C- section birth from the first child and was not quite please the the results from the C-section procedure, not go into any details she chose not to prosecute for malprectice even though there might have been some negligence on part of 2 of the 3 doctors attending her c-section procedure- Question - Can any action be still be taken? This new ginecologist is telling her she needs to have her uterus removed along with the other reproductive oregans because that uterus condition can not be remedied - Questions? Is this true? Can the uterus be removed without removing the ovaries? What are consequences of all or any combinations of the possible alternatives - eg remove one organ, both or none? the ginecologist further suggested to have one last child before such a procedure - Questions? Is it harder for her to get pregnant in her condition? What are the reisks beside of her age and to the new born to be? Some time has past she is still trying to get pregnant in a natural way, is suffering from lower back pains( disjoint uterus ) finds it painfull to have sex in some occasions, she has gone to her ginecologist aksing him questions about the above in genral fashion and has said that she was not getting pregnant, so he then recomends the above drugs for her consideration, which brings the nature of this request to comment on this particular case from prior experinces you might know of. What questions need to be asked? What information ought to be sought to make a good decision? Your replies would be forwarded to her, thank you for your time... ihnp4!aluxp!prieto ps. the present information available on these drugs shows not any lasting bad side effects other than naussea,...etc. because they are stimulating an hormonal agent of the menstrual cycle, I have read a paper long time ago about a quantitative model of the menstrual cycle, but cannot find the reference to it again - a point of the paper was that by changing or interering with the menstrual hormonal cycle one could stop it, I dont recall any on it about changing it slightly for the purepose of getting pregnant or any other reason. Can anyone give me a reference to such paper or others that might deal with this subject matter.
