Information or suggested reading is gratefully requested on the topic of paroxymal atrial tachycardia (intermittent rapid pulse). I am especially interested in the relationship between diet and exercise in the treatment of this condition. If the heart sustains a pulse in the 180-220 range for a few seconds periodically, will exercise make it better equipped to handle the work? If the PAT's are caused by an alternate or accessory node, how can drug therapy help? Thank you, Susan Micciche rochester!ccivax!susan

I too suffer from PAT/PVCs and would be very appreciative of suggestions for handling this very annoying condition... I've found it difficult to get doctors to do more than make a preliminary diagnosis without recommendations, because the symptoms are not reproducible on request. In the meantime I've had to guess at things that seem bad for the condition: caffeine consumption seems to bring on an episode, as does milk. Rapid increases or decreases in activity seem to bring it on too. Are there any other sufferers out there who have suggestions or comments? Donn Seeley {decvax,ihnp4}!utah-cs!donn
