[net.med] Talking with people who want "God to heal" them or their child

merrill@rex.DEC (02/14/85)

Ask them if they believe that God "uses" anything and anyone he wants
to answer their prayers. If yes, you're all set. If no, ask if God
is limited. Once they buy the doctrine of "available means" they are
likely to let a "believing" doctor treat them. I have been able to
talk a Seventh Day Adventist to this point of view. Don't know about
others.

I fail to see how this proves anything for your case. Seventh
Day Adventists are VERY big on Medical care and even build their
own Hospitals and Medical Universities (Loma Linda University,
in California for example).

If you had been able to persuade someone who is of the Christian
Science faith into believing this ?doctrine?, then I think you
would be onto something.
