[net.med] Day 2 after RK for eye 2

review@drutx.UUCP (Millham) (03/11/85)

Hi everyone,
Well, I had my othere eye done Saturday. This one was cut 5%
deeper (.003 mm) than my first eye. The eye lookes better than my
first eye, but feels worse. As with my other eye, my vision started
at 20/500. Since I've already had one eye done, I didn't need to see
my doctor the day after the surgery as with the first eye.

To be able to see the terminal, I need to wear a patch over the eye,
since I estimate that my vision out of that eye is probably 20/300 -
20/400 farsighted. I also wear the patch when driving for the same
reason. Currently the eye doesn't really hurt, it's just sore, and
light bothers it, so when I'm not wearing the patch, I'm wearing
sunglasses.

Technical info:
The incisions are .06mm in depth (the last eye they
were .057mm) and are cut around the sime size circle as last time
(3mm). As last time, there are 12 incisions. I'm currently taking
Percodan for the pain (irritation) and using an antibiotic and a
steriod eye drop once an hour.

Other info:
I friend from work drove me up there. His new scope has a
place for an assistant to look in while he is doing the operation.
Since his assistant doesn't use it, he let my friend look in it as
he was doing the operation! She got to see it from his point of
view. She said that it was fasinating to see. Any one with questions
as to the procedure can write to ihnp4!drutx!nkr. She'll be happy to
tell you about it. Don't write to her untill the last week of March,
she's leaving for Italy tomorrow.

More info tomorrow.
