I have been wearing contacts lenses for 10 years. I started with the hard but could not tolerate the pain in wearing them so I eventually switched to the Polycon lenses. Last year I noticed something strange. If I wake up during the night I cannot open my left eye. It's not because there is stuff sticking on my lid or anything, it's more like my muscle just doesnt have the strength to open the lid. I have to massage my eye for a while in order for it to open. I have never had this problem with my right eye, and I don't know if it is related to the fact that I only use my left eye to do my work, driving, etc, or if it could be related to the fact that I had a cycst in my left eye about 7 years ago. More recently I had to stop wearing my contacts, and this funny problem disappeared. Now I've got a new pair of lenses that are fairly comfortable (gas permeable), but I am getting this left eye problem again. I asked my eye doctor and he said he never heard of this before. My vision is much better with lenses so I persist in wearing them. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. M. Eagan ihnp4!druxp!eagan
