[net.med] In Support of A Friend

Friends and relatives of Manuel Garcia, a cancer patient who has lost
most of his hair while undergoing Chemotherapy, formed an unusual support
group: They shaved their heads so that his baldness would not maked him feel
conspicuous. Garcia, a 35yr old Milwaukee auto mechanic, had expressed concern
about his hair loss, voicing the fear that "I would be the only [bald]
one." His brother first had the idea of going bald, and within a few
days about 50 friends and relatives had followed suit. Additionally,
Garcia's wife and daughter had their hair cut short, and Garcia said,
"They were willing to shave it off, but I didn't want them too." Mrs.
Garcia said her husband looked 100% better after the show of support,
and Garcia pronounced himslef "ready for anything."
