[net.med] Newsweek article about sugar--Review summary of letters received

wws@ukma.UUCP (Bill Stoll) (09/03/85)

The Newsweek article about SUGAR was sort of like the BIBLE: those
reading it could get out of it about what they wished.

Some of the letters I got agreed with me: they were gratified to see
it given the prominence it was. Once the controversy is out on the
top of the stack like this it won't be long before the facts will be
apparent. I'LL TAKE MY LUMPS IF I'M WRONG---WILL YOU CONGRATULATE ME
WHEN YOU LEARN I'M RIGHT?

Some of the letters were down the middle. Which I think was the most
realistic. At least the article mentioned that some respected
researchers agreed with me (the first time I've seen that in a
publication like this).

Then there were the letters which insisted that the article
specifically stated that sugar was safe and, as a matter of fact, a
pretty good food.

Time will tell and I'm willing to let my reputation rest on the things
I've placed on the net so far. There are some things still not
certain enough for me to bank on so I'll hold them will till enough
information is in for me to take the plunge, I'll let you know.
I've practiced, and lived, both ways. I've never seen
anyone get healthier switching from a whole foods diet to a diet with
sugar in it. I've seen lots of people get healthier going the other
way. No one who has tried it would disagree so long as they follow
the applied kinesiological protocol necessary to get results in a week
or two. Full results can be expected in about 4 months but the most
dramatic effect is seen in the first month.
