[net.med] Results of my mail survey for net.disabled

rcj@burl.UUCP (Curtis Jackson) (09/04/85)

I was very interested in this group, but I must unfortunately report
that I have received only two replies on it -- and one was from the
person who originally posted the request for the group. I must therefore
conclude from my observations, even adding in those 'yes' votes posted
to the net, that there is far too little interest to warrant a new group.
Two things:

1) Perhaps people mailed to the original poster instead -- Bill McGarry --
decvax!bunker!wtm -- Bill if you can post to net.news.group (assuming
you haven't already) a summary of replies (preferrably with net addresses
attached) then maybe we can still get this show on the road.

2) If this doesn't pan out, I would suggest that postings be in net.med
and have subject lines starting with either "disabled:" for generic articles
concerning the disabled/handicapped/whatever; or "disabled.med:" for
an article about medical concerns of the disabled. This gives the
non-interested an easy way to recognize such articles and hit their 'n'
key and gives the interested among us the opportunity to gauge over the
next few weeks the real interest.

One last note: I know a lot of people want this group as bad as I do, but
please don't take this as an invitation to flood net.med to make your point;
if there is not genuine widespread interest then net.disabled would go the
way of net.rec.disc in 6 months anyway.

Thanks very much for your time, and I'll be looking forward to Bill's
summary in net.news.group,
