A recent discussion concerned the use of viricide impregnated tissues to slow the spread of rhinoviri. The postings indicated that the tissues contained ascorbic acid. I today ran across an article which discussed the original experiment using iodine impregnated tissues, and then discussed the current clinical trial using tissues impregnated with a combination of citric and malic acids, NOT ascorbic acid. FYI. It also mentioned that rhinoviri were cultured from 30% of the hands or noses in the control group, but only 5% in the group using the tissues. --Kne
