[net.med] request for machine readable text on Fortran 77 for blind user.

sar@warwick.UUCP (Simon Ritchie) (12/12/85)

This is a request for machine readable course material on Fortran 77.

I work at Coventry Polytechnic, a college in the UK. We have a blind
student, called Paul Hatfield, who is trying to learn Fortran 77. He has a
terminal which can display text in braille, but we have no machine readable
course material. We can set some up, but it will take time, and so he is
being held back.

Ideal material would be things like a complete book on Fortran 77 (there may
be royalty problems here, but they should be surmountable), "learn" scripts
and so on. Other material would still be useful, though.

If you have any suitable material which you are prepared to give away, please
mail it to me as soon as possible. We will, of course, observe any necessary
no disclosure agreements.

If you have a lot of text to send, perhaps we should transfer it by tape.
Mail me anyway to say what you've got.

PS Paul has no access to the net, which is why I am doing this. He can be
reached by snail mail via the Department of Mathematics at the same address.
