Does anyone know if it is true that one shouldn't give blood for
three years after taking Chloroquin (anti-mararia stuff)?

I recall that the Red Cross won't take your blood if you have taken an
antimalarial drug and traveled in a region where malaria is prevalent.
I don't recall which of the 2 conditions they specify. So, my question
is: Which of the following conditions makes your blood *unacceptable*?
	(1) travel to a malaria infested area?
	(2) use of chloroquin (or premiquin (sp?))?
	(3) use of fansidar (YA antimalarial)?

There was a time when the ARC would not accept blood
from anyone who had taken any cold remedy containing
quinine. I had a had a bout with bronchitis (back in the
50s) and had been given a Rx containing quinine to help stop
the cough, and several months later tried to donate blood.
The ARC said no go - even atropine (I guess belladonna, too)
was a no-no. Wonder how long that stuff stays in the system?
Has this rule been changed?
