I recently heard of a diagnostic procedure used to check for an inflamed spleen or liver or something (anatomy is not really my bag). The procedure is for the patient to lay on his back, and the doctor presses on his abdomen. If the patient feels pain, then something ain't right. Guess what...? I did this to myself, and it hurts. Not only that, but I feel a huge throbbing (I assume there's an artery or vein the size of the Rio Grande there). The pain I feel is much higher (around the base of the breastbone) than where I press (around the navel). My immediate reaction is that it's just the result of those 100% all beef (ground bone, waste and fat) hamburgers. I know, I know. This is a situation where I should visit a doctor, but I feel like an ass when I look healthy and go to the waiting room with all those obviously sick people in REAL pain.
