The article from pur-ee requesting help on pic & ideal is the first I have heard that they have gotten outside of Bell. I have been wanting to look at them since the SIGOA symposium in Portland more than a year ago in which they were mentioned by one of the implementors. How are they being distributed, and what is required to run them? Thanks, Bruce Cohen UUCP: ...!teklabs!tekecs!brucec CSNET: tekecs!brucec@tektronix ARPA: tekecs!brucec.tektronix@rand-relay

We have had pic and ideal for almost a year. They are distributed with typesetter independent troff (sometimes called ditroff). Cost is $400 dollars for Universities and $4000 for commercial users. Bill Lee University of Texas

From: Doug Gwyn (VLD/VMB) <gwyn@brl-vld> PIC & IDEAL are bundled with TI-TROFF (a.k.a. DITROFF); licensed by Western Electric (Greensboro, NC), phone (919)697-6530. As far as I know they will run on any modern UNIX system.
