[net.graphics] pic & ideal

brucec@orca.UUCP (Bruce Cohen) (08/13/83)

The article from pur-ee requesting help on pic & ideal is the first I
have heard that they have gotten outside of Bell. I have been wanting
to look at them since the SIGOA symposium in Portland more than a year
ago in which they were mentioned by one of the implementors. How are
they being distributed, and what is required to run them?

				Thanks,

We have had pic and ideal for almost a year. They are distributed with
typesetter independent troff (sometimes called ditroff). Cost is $400
dollars for Universities and $4000 for commercial users.

PIC & IDEAL are bundled with TI-TROFF (a.k.a. DITROFF); licensed by
Western Electric (Greensboro, NC), phone (919)697-6530. As far as I
know they will run on any modern UNIX system.
