[net.graphics] Lisp used for Superman III graphics

jacobson@uwvax.ARPA (Fred M Jacobson) (09/17/83)

The videogame-like images from the climax of Superman III appear on the
cover of the September 1983 IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications.
(One also appeared recently on the cover of InfoWorld.) The
description inside (pp. 7-10) says that Atari's Special Programs group
used two Symbolics LM2 Lisp Machines hosting a 32-bit Ikonas frame
buffer. Pat Cole, Special Programs software manager, said that using
Lisp was a great help because, Symbolic's object-oriented programming
system, Flavors, makes it "incredibly easy to code graphics."
