It generates device independent intermediate output which is converted to drive your device by a separate translator. I don't have a 4115 driver, but do have 4006 and 4014 drivers as used under VMS. The package is written in fortran (f77). When I first began to use the package, (on a VMS system) I had to write a basic driver for a Houston Instruments DMP-29 pen plotter. The job took about two hours. The VMS to Unix port took considerably longer, as I was in a hurry, and there are a few subsets of the package we haven't tested (needed) yet. There are also a few commands available in the VMS version of the metacode translator that I didn't bother with, but it is in the public domain, and does some really neat stuff. If you're interested, you can get a copy of the manual set for $30 from: Sue Long Software Distribution NCAR/SCD P.O. Box 3000 Boulder CO 80307 If you haven't run across the assortment of software available at NCAR, I'd suggest you contact Sue and have her send you a distribution sheet and order form. NCAR distributions are $200 and well worth it for what is on them, or you can just get manuals from NCAR and send me a tape, and I'll tar off a copy of the stuff I have, which is a full distribution tape as of February, 1984. Good Luck, Ken
