Advanced Course on 3D Computer Graphics ======================================= An advanced course on 3D computer graphics, sponsored jointly by SERC in the UK and the CREST-ITG committee of the EEC, is being held at the University of Glasgow from Mon 27th August to Fri 7th Sept 1984. Speakers include Ed Catmull Rob Cook, Frank Crow, Turner Whitted, David Clark and Robin Forrest. Topics covered will be 3d viewing and modelling transformations, solid modelling, design and display of curves and surfaces, TV technology for graphics, colour specification and control, anti-aliasing, illumination and shading, animation, stochastic modelling and high performance graphics hardware. The course fee is 360 pounds, and meals and accommodation cost 260 pounds. Fee scholarships are available for well-qualified candidates from universities colleges or research institutes,and there are also a limited number of travel scholarships for delegates from EEC countries other than the UK. Applications will be considered for a few more days for the Advanced Course on 3D Computer Graphics to be held at the University of Glasgow from 27th August to 7th September. This course will be given by some of the foremost authorities in the field, including Ed Catmull and Rob Cook from Lucasfilm, Frank Crow of Xerox PARC, Turner Whitted of Bell Labs, David Clark of London Univ, Paul ten Hagen of the CWI, Amsterdam and Robin Forrest of East Anglia. The course is sponsored by the UK Science and Research Council and the Scientific and Technical Research Committee of the EEC. Scholarships are available to suitable candidates from the EEC - why not try your luck. Fees are 360 UK pounds for the course and 260 for board and lodging. Applicants from EEC countries other than the UK may be eligible for travel and subsistence grants, while UK applicants sponsored by the SERC may be able to claim their costs from the SERC.
