COMPUTER GRAPHICS RESEARCH MANAGER The Computer Research Laboratory of Tektronix, Inc. has an opening for manager of its newly organized Computer Graphics Department. This department is chartered to investigate advanced topics in computer graphics, including high- performance display processors, uses of VLSI in graphics systems, applications of interactive graphics to real-world problems, and the representation and rendering of mathemati- cal models. This is a senior-level position, reporting to the Lab Direc- tor. Responsibilities of this position include planning and directing research projects, recruiting quality researchers, managing the transfer of research results to product divi- sions, and maintaining a high-quality graphics research environment. Requirements include a Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, a proven record of research in computer graphics, and a demonstrated ability to manage research projects. Experience in VLSI will be a definite advantage. The Computer Research Lab is a part of Tek's corporate Applied Research Laboratories, whose function is to explore and develop the potential capabilities of emerging technolo- gies, and to provide technology-based product opportunities for our operating divisions. The Lab provides an excellent research atmosphere. The staff has wide technical interests, including computer graphics, software and hardware design environments, com- puter systems architecture, distributed computing, and artificial intelligence. Computing facilities include indi- vidual networked workstations and access to a range of main- frame systems.
