[net.graphics] Rob Pike's talk: Why UNIX can't do real time graphics/interaction

ksbszabo@wateng.UUCP (Kevin Szabo) (02/06/85)

A while ago an article that previewed a graphics conference mentioned
a talk by Rob Pike (the provocative one). The title was something
like `Why UNIX Can Not Do Real Time Graphics'. Did anybody hear
the talk? Or better yet can someone give a short summary of the paper?

I would imagine that Unix's scheduling philosophy and its habit
of locking out interrupts have a great deal to do with his argument,
but I would like to hear the rest.

Why don't you send Rob mail and ask him yourself?
