National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA Ames Research Center SEMINAR ANNOUNCEMENT Joint RIACS and CR Branch seminar SPEAKER: Donald Allison Virginia Polytechnic and State University Blacksburg, Virginia TOPIC: Fast Geometric Algorithms ABSTRACT: The emergence of computational geometry as a discipline has been strongly motivated by the number of application areas such as computer graphics image processing and remote sensing that require manipulation of objects in a real time environment. Research in computational geometry may be classified into four main categories: 1) minimization and maximization problems, 2) inclusion problems, 3) intersection problems, and 4) closest point problems. In this seminar several problems from category 1 will be discussed. DATE: 14 Mar 1985 TIME: 2PM BLDG: N233 ROOM: 172 POINT OF CONTACT: M.
