It is being done by > X3J2 as a chapter in the forthcoming ANSI BASIC standard. This, > as you may anticipate, results in some political friction and > divergence from the letter of the GKS standard. The view of the Basic committee is that there is no such divergence. These contrasting views are the basis of much of the noted political friction. But to the point: the GKS binding for Basic is contained in chapter 13 of the draft Basic standard. The most recent version of the draft standard is document number X3J2/84-26, dated June 15, 1984. A new version with only editorial corrections will be out shortly, and this will be the version sent on to X3 for final approval. These documents can be ordered from the same people who sell the GKS draft standard: CBEMA, X3 Secretariat, 331 First St. NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC. The Basic draft standard is available in machine-readable form. The entire standard occupies 772kbytes. This is much too big to send over the net, but if you send us a nine-track magtape we can load the file in any VAX Unix format. -- Andrew Klossner (decvax!tektronix!orca!andrew) [UUCP] (orca!andrew.tektronix@csnet-relay) [ARPA] USmail: Tektronix, Inc.
