Where can I learn about VDI (Virtual Device Interface)? Please reply by mail and I'll summarize to the net. Thanks. -- Keith Gorlen seismo!elsie!cecil!keith

Last year I completed my Master's Project which dealt with VDI. Probably the best source of info, if you want to implement VDI, are the standards documents put out by ANSI and ISO. Other articles have appeared from time to time in various computer magazines. Many articles which talk about GKS also deal with VDI. At any rate listed below are several references I used for my paper. Draft International Standard ISO/DIS 7942 Information Processing Graphical Kernal System (GKS) Functional Description, International Standards Organization, ISO Document ISO TC97/SC5/WG2 N163, Nov. 14, 1982. Reed, Theodore N., Activities of the ANSI X3H33 Virtual Device Innterface Task Group, American National Standards Institute, Aug. 27, 1982. Reed, Theodore N., and others, Proposal for an ANSI X3 Standards Project for the Computer Graphics Virtual Device Interface, American National Standards Institute, Aug. 27, 1982. Reed, Theodore N., and others, Virtual Device Interface and Virtual Device Metafile, Position Paper by the X3H33 Task Group of the American National Standards Institute, Dec. 28, 1981. You should be able to get the last 3 documents (and probably more, recent stuff) from ANSI in N.Y., N.Y. - Sorry I don't have the address or phone number. The ISO document I received from my professor - I'm not sure how to get it. Happy Graphics! mtuxn!fjpls
