Hi, We just got MOVIE.BYU and would like to run it on our 4.2BSD VAX. I have done the initial garbage to get it to compile on 4.2BSD's f77. But it still doesn't quite seem right. Before we spend any more time on it, I wondered : - who else is using it on 4.2BSD - whether there were any special mods and fixes required - are there any improvements to the algorithms or functional extensions that could be shared - if there is an Ikonas/Adage 3000 driver available - whether people had quick examples and input data for nice images which we could use as test cases. What is MOVIE.BYU?
Along the same lines, what is the "magic" system I keep reading about
in one of the arpa groups? It looks like it might be some sort of CAD
system. Can anyone tell me about this? Is it public domain? We have
virtually nothing in the way of graphics software, but we do have a
Vectrix and an Imagen 8/300. I'd LOVE to be able to create some pretty
pictures.

It uses two displays -- one for text (usually black and white) and the other for displaying layouts in colour (hi-res colour display with >=8 bit planes and a colour lookup table). Currently, Magic works with UCB512's (AED512's with Berkeley enhancements) AED1024's, SUN2/120's and Pyramids... >Is it public domain?
