[net.graphics] Welcome to Info-Graphics

Info-Graphics-Request@AIDS-UNIX.ARPA (Andy Cromarty) (09/07/85)

Welcome to INFO-GRAPHICS! Here are a few administrative details about
the list:

			    Archives
			    --------

The archives for INFO-GRAPHICS are kept on SANDIA-CAD.ARPA in the file:
	   DIST:INFO-GRAPHICS.ARCHIVE
which may be FTP'd with user name ANONYMOUS and any password.
If you cannot FTP the file, send mail to Info-Graphics-Request@AIDS-Unix.
Be forewarned that these archives are not small; be sure you have
sufficient space before you FTP (or request) them.

			    Requests
			    --------

If you have problems sending messages to the list, questions about
technical details of the list distribution, or the like, send mail to
INFO-GRAPHICS-REQUEST@AIDS-UNIX and we'll respond personally to your
query.

PLEASE DO NOT send your request to be added to/deleted from the list
to INFO-GRAPHICS. If you do, it will be automatically redistributed
as an article and will appear in hundreds of mailboxes around the world.
Always send these requests to the -REQUEST address.

		Submissions & Release Format
		----------------------------

To submit an article to Info-Graphics, simply send it to
		Info-Graphics@AIDS-Unix

Submissions to the list are currently being delivered in a single batch
mailing once a week, on weeks when there is something to send. This
technique reduces the load on the network and the disturbance to list
members due to incoming mail. Info-Graphics is not a true "digest",
however: there is no list moderator who edits the incoming messages before
they are redistributed. Everything operates automatically, with the
attendant advantages and pitfalls. (If you fall into one of those pits,
please send me mail at Info-Graphics-Request and we'll do our best to fix
things up.)

These details may help you automate your mail processing: Within a
single release of Info-Graphics, the format consists of an initial
identifying header, a list of topics covered in that release, and
then each message as received in chronological order, separated by a
dashed line. The dashed line separating the header from the first
message is 70 hyphens long; the dashed lines between messages are 30
hyphens long. A line containing only "End of INFO-GRAPHICS" followed
by a line of 20 asterisks indicates the end of the release. Most of
the header information is removed from each submission automatically
at release time; when the software is working correctly, only
"Date:", "From:", and "Subject:" typically appear.

I hope to see a wide range of graphics topics discussed, including
software, hardware, ideas, profound thoughts -- anything related
to graphics for advanced or beginning users on any machine is fair
game. I hope you enjoy INFO-GRAPHICS.
