leon@nlgvax.UUCP (Leon Driessen) (10/03/85)

WANTED:

A simple to learn and simple to use 2-D drawing programme (package) running
under UNIX Berkeley 4.2 on a DEC VAX 11/780:
 * a picture at least contains points, straight line segments connecting
points, symbols or pictograms, and text strings anywhere; any item can
   have its own colour.
 * (part of) a drawing can be entered (in layers) via one or more files
with prescribed formats, but also interactively with the keyboard and/or
   a mouse or a tablet.
 * a drawing can be modified by editing the file(s) describing the picture
in a (normal) text edit session, but also interactively with the
   keyboard and/or a mouse or a tablet.
 * a drawing, a new one or an update, is saved automatically in one or more
files; it is also possible to put it on paper with a plotter or via a
   hardcopy device.
 * symbols, pointsizes, line structures, etcetera can be (pre)defined and
   put into a library.
 * zooming, rotating, and automatic scaling of (part of) the picture are
   possible.

Please let me know wether such a drawing programme package does exist, and
how it can be obtained. Except for the UNIX VAX, the hardware devices may
depend on the drawing programme.

Thanks in advance,

Tektronix offers a 2-D Drafting Software System called TekniCAD which does
provide the above features. The software is not available for the VAX
but does run on the low cost 32-bit Tektronix 6130 workstation which is based on
Berkeley 4.2 and System V. The software uses the high-performance capabilities
of the Tektronix 4100 and 4110 Families of graphic terminals. For more
information on TekniCAD, the 6130 or Tektronix graphic terminals please contact
our local office. The local office in the Netherlands is:
