I am in dire need of an efficient and in expensive package to create an accurate three dimensional image by fusing two stereo 2D digitized images. I currently have the facilities for digitizing in high resolution the stereo images and want solutions that don't require the purchase of added (especially expensive) hardware. I've heard such software was developed for our unmanned space program, perhaps part of JPL's VICAR. Help!

There is good article by Ivan sutherland on converting multiple 2D views to 3D form in "Proceedings of the IEEE, Vol. 62, No. 4, April 1984. Suprisingly, it is not that difficult to do. Mike Stroyan, hpfcla!stroyan

3D scene generation from 2D views is a hot topic in computer vision. It is a powerful tool in scene interpretation. The IEEE computer society, and their ancillary groups, have published papers on this topic. Last week we attended the IEEE workshop on computer vision. There were several related papers; including an exciting one on epipolar-plane image analysis. The proceedings are IEEE computer society #685. I'd like to hear from anyone involved in work of this sort! Shep Siegel UUCP: ihnp4!datacube!shep Datacube Inc.; 4 Dearborn Rd.; Peabody, Ma. 01960; 617-535-6644
