[net.graphics] OSU image generation software

julian@riacs.ARPA (Julian E. Gomez) (03/08/86)

What has happened to this posting, you may be wondering.
It's still pending.

I do plan to release this code soon. In fact, there are a few places
with prerelease copies of version 2, which is the current version,
and I would like to get their comments before the general release.
When it happens, it will be over net.sources or mod.sources as shars.

Right now I'm trying to improve the device interface, to make it
easier to incorporate new display devices into the system. I'm also
trying to write the manuals, which are nonexistent. I'm also making
changes to the display controller to run calculations in parallel. In
Columbus, CGRG has only one 780, so even though the controller could
theoretically split off simultaneous subcalculations, we were never
able to try it. Here at RIACS, we're running on a Sequent 8000, so I
plan to experiment with this subject. When the package is released
you will be able to take advantage of this playing around if you have
a parallel machine. I should also have a Sun III installed.
