[net.graphics] geometrical operations on raster images

information about the following would be appreciated:

1.  reference to recent papers describing Geometrical Operations (e.g. scale,
    translation, arbitrary rotation) on DIGITISED IMAGES using serial or
    parallel computers.
2.  applications where the above operations are crucial (references).
