Can anyone explain to me how the hershey font files work? How do I incorporate them into the world coordinate system of a graphics package (to get them to be the right size)?

[What do you mean, you don't have 2-point Hobo?] The font format is described pretty clearly in qfont(5). I'd post it, but manual pages require a UNIX* license. ----- * UNOX is a trademark of the United Packing Co. -- Col. G. L. Sicherman ...seismo!rochester!rocksanne!rocksvax!sunybcs!gloria!colonel

The originator of the fonts is (was?) Alan Hershey. I believe he worked for the Naval Underwater Weapons Center, not NBS. (This does not override any of the information on how to obtain the fonts, but is only a clarification on their origin.)

I am interested in obtaining the hershey fonts. The last time they were posted I missed them. So if anyone has them and is interested in giving them to me please contact me via e-mail. I am not a daily reader of the news. I'm willing to send a tape with a self-addressed envelope. Also, if anyone has software that converts the hershey fonts from vectored form to a bit map I would be interested in this. I came in in the middle of a lot of messages about Hershey fonts. My questions are simple: What are they? Where can I get them? I'm not quite certain of where to send this, so I'm posting it to net.text and net.graphics. Thanks in advance. Paul.
