Does anyone out there have the source for such a thing (including any required mods to readnews 2.10) that they might send me? This sounds like a great idea. Thanks.. Michael Ellis - Fairchild AI Lab - Palo Alto CA - (415) 858-4270 ...also MEllis@SRI-KL (Arpa)

Yeah, I have the mlisp routines for an emacs 'rnews'. I've hacked it
a lot so that it:
a) displays in the mode line the message number you are on and the
number of messages total,
b) has a variable 'rnews-auto-keys' which can be bound to keys to be
executed on each new message such as 'd' (for automatic delete)
c) has a number of other keys for moving thru or processing the
message text. (i.e. forward and backward paragraph, forward and
backward lines, compressing multiple blank lines etc)
d) has a number of keys that work well with 'rnews-auto-keys', such
as bypass message header, apportion window sizes so that the message is
fully displayed, and auto-ROT13 messages that are rot13'ed.
I'm willing to send it out to anyone who wants it. If there is enough
demand I'll post it to net.sources (and mail it to people who don't get
net.sources). I am not sure what mod's are needed to 'readnews' so
that it works with 'rnews'. It needs the -e option, but I don't know
if that is already in the distributed version or not.
