I have recently begun using Unix on a VAX, and am experiencing several
problems with Unipress Emacs #264. Two that are of immediate concern are:
1) If any of the 'backup-...' variables are turned on, Emacs appends a
period to the name of the file being updated, rather than a .BAK
2) I have not been able to figure out an elegant way of repeating the last
command executed without creating a macro
If anyone can provide assistance with these matters, I would be very
grateful.

The problem with the .BAK problem is probably because the config.h was not setup before emacs was made. This file contains a list of defines which specify (amoung other things) what is appended to backup files and checkpoint files. If you here a reasonable solution to the repeat-last-command problem let me know Perry convex!smu!pedz
