[net.emacs] CCA EMACS & UniPress EMACS

nyberg@ut-ngp.UUCP (Karl Nyberg) (11/09/84)

(I think I did this wrong just a second ago - if so, my apologies.)

We're going to buy an EMACS - can anybody give me the pros
and cons of the available EMACS's for Vaxen & Suns, especially
those in the Subject: line? Thanks.

Since I'm the author of CCA EMACS, my opinion would probably be
considered somewhat biased. However, for a more objective opinion, I
would recommend the review of both EMACSes in the November issue of The
DEC Professional, which just came out. The review is by Alan Watson, a
monthly columnist for the magazine, who usually writes about topics such
as VMS and EDT. Although he reviews the VMS version of each EMACS, most
of his points are applicable to the Unix version as well (except the
price). The review is the first of two parts; the second part will be
appearing in the December issue.

The DEC Professional November*1984 Volume 3, number 6 issue
has an article by Allan Watson (??) that seems to think that
the CCA Emacs is nicer, especially in the documentation department.
The article is:
