The GNU emacs is now available via uucp from voder. The source is split into four tar files. Each file has been compressed using version 3.0 of compress. If you don't already have compress a shar file is available containing source, man pages, and a simple makefile suitable for 4.2 BSD. name size ---------------------- emacs..1.Z 166700 emacs..2.Z 142009 emacs..3.Z 273741 emacs..4.Z 382761 compress.shar 59619 These files can be retrieved by 'uucp voder\!~/emacs..1.Z ~uucp'. After retrieving the emacs* files you will need to make a directory for the source to reside in and move the compressed files to that directory. Decompress each file (e.g. 'compress -d emacs..1'). Next extract all the original files using tar (e.g. 'tar xf emacs..1'). Read the file 'INSTALL' for further instructions. As people retrieve emacs I would appreciate you dropping me a short note so that I can build a mailing list for bug fixes, etc. The uucp information is: Phone numbers: (408) 746-2911 and (408) 746-2912 login : uugnu password : unguu All modems are Vadic Triples, answering at 1200 baud. Access is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Enjoy! -- Jeff Gilliam {ucbvax,ihnp4!nsc}!voder!jeff
