Just so nobody thinks I've forgotten--I said I would collect votes and
opinions BY EMAIL PLEASE on the idea of a subgroup of net.music on the
Grateful Dead. I will post what I've collected a few days from now and try
to draw some conclusions from it.
YES, I'm trying to siphon off the postings from net.music about creating a
newsgroup. YES, I will post the results. YES, I am GDMFSACS VERRRRY tired
of yes/no votes in net.music--like many other people who read the group, I
read it to learn about MUSIC, not about NEWSGROUPS, thank you. [And yes,
for the skeptics, I DO have strong interests in groups other than the
Dead.] And finally, YES, it really DOES take that long to get news all the
way out to the edges of the net and get the email replies back again. Our
site is near a couple of backbone sites. The typical reply is now running
about 15 hops to get to me; the reply rate is slowing.
And YES, I'm sorry about YA non-music posting in net.music. I hope that I
can justify it by forestalling at least a couple of votes-by-posting that
you won't have to read.
