[net.emacs] GNU Emacs manual DVI and Press files available

Pavel.pa@Xerox.ARPA (11/16/85)

From: Pavel.pa@Xerox.ARPA

After seeing several requests for either the DVI file for the GNU Emacs
manual or a version of TeX which can run it off, I have decided to make
the former available. Two versions of the manual are available via
anonymous FTP from PARC-VAXC.ARPA:

	pub/gnuemacs.dvi standard DVI-format output (725772 bytes)
	pub/gnuemacs.press Xerox Press-format output (945152 bytes)

These copies of the manual use different fonts than those referred to in
the distributed version of botex.tex, in order to make it easier to run
off for sites using more recent fonts. Here are the fonts referred to
in the files:

	amr9 (unscaled)

	amr10 (unscaled)
	amr10 scaled \magstephalf

	ambx10 scaled \magstephalf
	ambx10 scaled \magstep2
	ambx10 scaled \magstep3
	ambx10 scaled \magstep5

	amsl10 scaled \magstephalf

	amss10 scaled \magstephalf

	amsy10 (unscaled)

	amtt10 scaled \magstephalf

If you do take a copy of the manual from PARC-VAXC, I'd appreciate it if
you would drop me a line, just so I can get a feeling for how many
copies are being taken. My addresses appear below.

It has occurred to me that I left in the \hoffset=1in and \voffset=1in
that were in the botex.tex macros. What this amounts to in practice
is that the output will be shifted down and right by one inch on some
printers (the ones that work correctly, I think). On others, like the
``losing Imagen'' mentioned in the macros, it will come out alright.
If I get time, I will put out another copy of each of the Press and
DVI files with the offsets set back to zero. I'll let the net.emacs
list know when I do this. Both versions will be made available.

Sorry for the confusion.
