From: vrdxhq!karl@seismo.CSS.GOV (K. Nyberg) Anybody brought GNU EMACS up on a power 6/32 yet? I compiled everything OK (version 17.49), but am not sure I have all the declarations correct. Every time I give it the command next-line, it causes a full refresh of the screen, and when I give it the command scroll-up, it only seems to scroll a line or two (not a consistent amount). Most everything else seems to work ok, if you don't mind being unable to read the screen or having it redisplay every time you move the cursor up or down. Any suggestions on places to look and things to look for would be appreciated. Moreso a solution. Thanks. -- Karl -- DDN: nyberg@ada-20, nyberg@utexas-20, Nyberg@mit-multics UUCP: ...!{rlgvax, seismo, umcp-cs, verdix}!vrdxhq!karl

Karl (and anyone else), Yes, I've had the same problem. Since I have other work to do (on a VAX), I havn't persued it much. However, I did find out that the screen garbling is due to the global curX getting garbage put in it at some point. Why, I don't know, and lacking a debbuger (cdb won't handle the size of gnuemacs) you can imagine the frustration I went thro' just to find out the above. If there's a few more people out there with 6/32's perhaps we mount a join effort (of even two !) to crack this. Even being able to put cbd over it would be an enormous help (why is it that every C debbuger I use under Unix doesn't work ?) You'd better mail me direct to avoid clogging the net up any more.
