From: daveb%llama@SUN.COM (Dave Brower) USENET's mod.sources is now sending out a complete, and by appearances, very portable version of microEMACS. This is probably the best thing to have on systems with limited resources, or where porting "The Real Thing" (GNU) is too involved. I expect many people will find themselves in the situation where both are available. Unfortunately, there are many major and minor differences between MicroEMACS and GNU. I am going to find this very annoying. My intent is to change MicroEMACS as much as necessary to be a proper subset of GNU. That means making sure that commands have the same names, and that the commands do the same thing (as much as possible). This is going to take a while, so before I start, I'd like to hear what GNU and Micro users think. * Is this a good idea for your site? * Will the MicroEMACS maintainers accept these changes? * Should the mod.sources version be modified when this is completed? I do not want to get in the MicroEMACs maintenance business, so unless there is some consensus reached, I won't bother starting. -dB
