[net.emacs] SCHEME needed

-*-Text-*-

Our news connection has been flaky lately (we didn't get news for
almost a week, now we're getting tons of month-old articles) I suspect
because of GaTech's problems (we feed off of akgua, which gatech
primarily feeds). So, I'm reposting a plea for help...

HELP!! I need a free public domain Scheme, such as the MIT-Scheme
off of the latest GNU Emacs tapes (17.50 or later), because I'm just a
poor undergrad (remember when?) and none of the locals want to bother
with anything new (they're satisfied with Franz Lisp and such... easy
to please, I guess).
I have a very ancient MIT-Scheme off an equally ancient Emacs
tape, but it doesn't have the user manual. If anybody knows where I
can get the user manuals, it might work. I can read between the lines
and refer to the sources whenever the manual differs.
I can mail you a tape to copy it on, and pay all shipping costs.
Please? _Structure and Interpretation of Computer Languages_ is hard
to read without a Scheme nearby. Are there any generous people left
out there? All it'll be is a few minutes out of your life...
Don't press the "R" key... usl-pc isn't in the sendmail database
(it's someday going to be "foo@usl-pc.usl.edu" or some such nonsense).
Do it the old-fashioned way. gatech!akgua!usl!usl-pc!jpdres10 ought to
work. Perhaps the locals may figure out how to register these machines
(don't hold your breath!). U.S. Mail would probably be faster than
trying to route something here. Thanks to anybody who cares enough to
respond to this S.O.S.
