[net.emacs] GNU emacs on a 3B1

rjk@mrstve.UUCP (Richard Kuhns) (06/02/86)

I'd love to hear from anyone who has gotten GNU emacs running on a
3b1. I just received the source (v17.62), and tried `make'ing it.
Everything seems to work just fine until temacs tries to dump xemacs.
It'll create approx. 230K worth of xemacs, and then come up with

Failure operating on unexec write failure: addr 0xb9000, fileno 5,
size 0x80, wrote 0xffffffff, errno 14

1) Changing PURESIZE doesn't affect this error message.
2) Doubling PURESIZE and getting rid of the .elc files doesn't affect
this error message.

Trying `temacs -l loadup.el' _seems_ to give me all the necessary
functions, altho (since I haven't used GNU emacs before) I'm positive
there are things I haven't tried that may cause it to break.

I'm going to try compiling it on a 3b2 next -- if anyone has any comments/
experiences with that, I'd like to hear them.

As always, thanx in advance.
