[net.emacs] List of ports?

MHICKEY@UDCVM.BITNET (Mike Hickey) (08/19/86)

Greetings!

Has anyone compiled a list of GNU ports to date? Something like that
would seem to be a great convenience as well as a quick reference. If it
were similar to list of Kermit ports maintained at Columbia (which includes
ports in progress) it could allow people working on ports to see at a glance
if a port already exists or if others are already working on one.

If something like this doesn't exist and others think this is of value,
I'd be willing to create such a list if I could be kept abreast of develop-
ments (via mail).

/Mike

A subset of this information is on prep.ai.mit.edu in file
/u2/emacs/etc/MACHINES. The file contains "a list of the status of
GNU Emacs on various machines and systems." rms keeps it up-to-date.
The file is available by anonymous ftp.

Further queries to: gnu@prep.ai.mit.edu (aka gnu@mit-prep.arpa).

Successful ports should be sent to rms@prep.ai.mit.edu for probable
integration into the main GNU Emacs sources (m-*.h, s-*.h, and Unix
"diff -c"'s for other changed files is the preferred format).
