I guess I am wondering how many people out there are using JOVE or WOULD be if they could get their hands on it. My current plan is to release JOVE to the world (mod.sources?), if the world wants it, with the understanding that people can take it and make it work for ms-dos or any other machine if they want. The current version has NO Bell code in it. All the relevant code that was causing problems when I first sent out JOVE has long since been completely rewritten/organized etc. I've personally started organizing things for ms-dos. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to make this work, but I think it shouldn't be too hard--I've done it before. I won't be doing the work, I think, because I'm a full time student, besides which I have spent far too much time hacking JOVE. But, you never know ... or, well, *I* never know. JOVE fully lints, so making it work with large memory models shouldn't be too hard (but what do I know about those crazy things, anyway?). JOVE currently runs under all Berkeley 4 systems, 2.9 with or without overlays, all suns, pyramid computers, Bell UNIX (although I've never tested it). JOVE is still significantly smaller than VI, starts up very fast these days, and is generally very fast. Oh, I guess I should mention something about copyrights and all that stuff. My goal right now is to get JOVE to anyone who wants it. That includes sources, of course. Nobody who gets this version can sell it; people will be free to share it with other people, sources and all, so long as the copyright notices stay in all the source files. That's all. I'll be interested in peoples' reactions. Jonathan Payne

Yes! Post JOVE to mod.sources.
