[net.emacs] microEmacs 3.7 query

bobmon@iuvax.UUCP (Robert Montante) (09/08/86)

This is a question about configuring the microEmacs code for MS-DOS machines,
in particular a Zenith 158. To wit:

A while ago I downloaded an executable form of microEmacs v3.6, and discovered
to my delight that it was drawing a 50-line screen (as far as I know, my Z-158
has a CGA-style monitor capability ONLY). I assumed it was doing this via
graphics synthesis of a character set, unless Zenith has some untrumpeted
features tucked away -- Anyway, in trying to get documentation, I instead ended
up with v3.7 source code. Now I have a nice, updated microEmacs in full color,
but it gives me a normal old 25-line screen (of which 4 lines are devoted to
the window that describes the function keys (created by the emacs.rc?)).

So is there a way to get that double-density screen back? Any help will be
greatly appreciated.

Oh -- unrelated question, posed by a friend who is more into help windows than
I am -- What are FNT, FNQ, etc.? Are they function keys? If so, why aren't
they called FN1, FN2, etc.?

Thanx,	...Bob Montante...
