[net.music] Lou Reed's past employment

What?!?!? That's NOT a trivia question! Of course he was a member --
in fact, he was the leader of VU!

This is a joke, right...? Or are you from this planet?

Not only is *this* true, but I've heard that Paul McCartney was once a
member of a group called the Beatles, too. Has anyone else heard this? :-)

Well that reply should sure get people to ask more questions on this net!
I love the "EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT, STUPID!" answers readilly available to
our fellow netters. (I plead no contest). Seriously people, let's ALL
try to remember that the age spread here is probably 20-30+ years. Let's
just blast people when they REALLY deserve it, like those jerks who don't
like Prince! (guess what goes here).

Polydor(?) has released the Velvet Underground albums (but they sound
cleaner than I remember them. Get them fast, play them loud.

The comment was supposed to be reflective of how "ancient" history in music
is unknown to many new listeners, and how now WE are our own parents saying
"You've never heard of Rudy Vallee?" to us m+n years ago. If you interpreted
that as "EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT, STUPID!", I'd say that's your problem. Why
didn't you mention the other articles that claimed that the questioner must
have been from another planet? Or don't they count?

If you are going to be this sensitive about comments concerning your postings,
I suggest you reconsider posting at all. I've been nailed a lot worse than
this on other news groups. The reply was directed at everyone that had made
rude comments to the questioner. Your posting was readily available at the
time I felt I should comment. Are you suggesting I should have inserted the
same reply in every article that had a subject line that read "Lou Reed's
past employment"? My employer expects me to work once in a while!

And these were the comments which he made:

> Well that reply should sure get people to ask more questions on this net!

Given the heated tone of this man's remarks, I feel quite justified in
rebutting them by pointing out that he had grossly misinterpreted and
misrepresented me. And, by the way, if YOU are going to be this sensitive
about comments concerning YOUR postings, ... (guess what goes here)
