I have a DEC Professional 350, running Pro/Venix 1.0, a licensed version of version 7 Unix. I bought the system about a year ago. At the time hardware and software were still warrantied for 1 year. I think all in all it is an excellent low-end system. 1) I would like to network with other Pro350/380 Venix users. Please send e-mail address if interested. 2) There were 90+ known bugs in release 1.0 of Pro/Venix. That's not a lot by unix standards, but I would like to know if there has ever been a free, non-purchaseable upgrade to release 1.0 to fix some of these. I was under the impression when I bought my system that I was entitled to free upgrades (or at least bug fixes, if any) during the warranty period. DEC has never sent me any information about the status of Pro/Venix since I purchased it, even though I sent in my warranty registration card. 3) Does any one know what the status is of "purchaseable" upgrades for the Pro 350? 800-DIGITAL claims 1.0 is still the only version for the 350. What about 1.1, 2.0, 2.X? And the one VenturCom calls 5.2? 4) Are any of these versions going to be able to support such desireable options as extra serial port board, telephone management system, real-time interface? If you have questions or problems, give me a try; I've worked out most of them, except how to get a straight answer out of DEC. Jim Bradley (bugoff2@ucbtopaz) 415/642/4256
