[net.decus] uVax II file transfer question

deb@gt-eedsp.UUCP (Deb Jackson) (07/08/86)

We just bought a few uVax II's and are currently running uVMS 4.3 on them.
They are equipped with ethernet hardware, tk50 cassette drives and floppy
drives. What we'd like to do is transfer files across an ethernet from
the our MV 10000 running AOS or from our Vax11/780 running 4.2BSD(BRL)
to one of the uVaxs.

Our MV and Vax talk via ftp, but the uVax can't do that, so we're wondering
how in the world we're supposed to get anything transferred. Is there a
public domain FTP for VMS out there anywhere?

The only idea I've come up with is to create an ansi tape of the file from
the Vax, then hook the uVax up to our tu80 tape drive and load it that way,
but I have no idea whether we can hook the tu80 up to the uVax without
an additional board or something.

If anyone out there in net.land has experience with this sort of stuff,
please let me know!

Thanks in advance,
Deb
