Is anyone working on a drop-in uucp protocol driver for Datapac? The
main requirement is that it repack an 8-bit data path into a 7-bit data
path for transmission and unpack upon reception.

Bob Lawson (utcsstat!bob) has looked at uucp and claims that there are
clean hooks for adding new protocols.  Bob was going to write the
driver, but there have been more pressing problems.  The UNIX* people
at UWO (in London, Ont.) are also interested in writing it, but are
fighting to keep 2.8BSD up at the moment.  UWO isn't on the net yet,
