[can.general] tax return preparation

dave@lsuc.UUCP (David Sherman) (04/01/85)

As April 30 approaches, I'd strongly recommend that anyone who
is paying money to get their tax return done see a chartered
accountant. The tax return preparation services (e.g., H&R Block)
will do your return more or less accurately, but they won't give
you any advice as to how to plan your affairs to minimize taxes.
Unless your situation is extremely simple (in which case you should
be doing your own return anyway), it's probably worth your while
to have a C.A. advise you on tax planning while doing your return.
You'd be surprised the number of useful strategies there are which
might apply to you.

If anyone is looking for a C.A., let me know. I can point you to
one who is on the net and who is excellent at tax planning. (Even
though I'm a tax lawyer, I've had this person review my own return
for the last several years.)
