A Toronto computer-stuff distributor, Datamex, recently let us know about an offer that seemed awfully attractive: a limited number of okay-looking terminals, "TTX 3000"s from an outfit called "Teletex" at $299 each in batches of 5. If you got a similar offer, throw it in the trash. If you have ordered, cancel! What the mailing did not make clear was that the terminals have severe bugs in their keyboard encoders (not to mention some other things...) that make them completely junk. Datamex admits this when questioned about it, and cites this as the reason for the low price. No fix likely. Avoid, unless you are in need of large plastic paperweights. (We're returning the ones we bought.) -- Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry
