Here's a historical perspective on the demise of the stubby beer bottle. In the early sixties my father and his generation were crying in their beer (literally and not just metaphorically) about the demise of the long neck beer bottle. They complained that the new stubby then being introduced was difficult to drink from and difficult to pour into a glass for the ladies. Moreover, the new caps on the stubbies couldn't be twisted off with bare hands. They accused the breweries of starting a fad that wouldn't last. They believed that some day the long neck beer bottle would return. Twenty-three years later, they have been proved right. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
