I was recently elected president of "/usr/group/cdn - The Canadian Network of Unix Users", and this is part of my effort to broaden the base of the group, and introduce new people to the Unix community and the advantages of Unix. /usr/group/cdn is combining its 2 publications (readme & UNIX/etc) into one newsletter (maybe someday magazine) called /usr/group/cdn/news. This will be printed on good quality paper on a regular basis (hopefully monthly by the fall). utgpu!telly!evan has volunteered to edit it. The number of copies distributed will be between 500-5000. This will include our members, and a broadly based group of Canadian DP managers, copies to affiliate groups, and possibly (budget dependent & some technical details) the attendees at the Unix/87 show last month. We are soliciting notices of meetings, conferences, or any other events of interest to the Unix Community in Canada for a "Calendar" section. These do not have to /usr/group/cdn functions, but those of affiliates, or a group of Unix people who get together semi-regularly, or a company who is giving a presentation or seminar. If it relates to Unix and you want to encourage others to attend, tell us. The first issue should be received before 1987 July 1, the next one may not be out until September 1, and then we should send it more regularly. This means if something is going to happen between June 24 & Sept 15, we should include it in this issue. If we get another out before September, we will re-run appropriate announcements. There is a fairly tight deadline, so we really need notices by 1987 June 5, Friday. P.S. If anyone is interested in joining /usr/group/cdn, it costs $100/year, and you should send mail to usrgroup@utgpu or me for more info. ../Dave Mason, TM Software Associates (Compilers & System Consulting) ..!{utzoo seismo!mnetor utcsri utgpu lsuc}!tmsoft!mason
