[can.general] Death of a CFL Team

wjjordan@watdragon.UUCP (06/25/87)

Farewell to the Montreal Alouettes. They folded last night when their
new owners decided that selling 4000 season tickets was not enough to justify
keeping the team alive. As a result, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers move to
fill the space held by Montreal in the CFL East Division.

What do people think of the CFL? Will it stick around for a few more years
and then die? Should it pack up now? Do people
care about it?

I for one feel that the Blue Bombers now have a free pass to the Grey Cup
every year. Of course, being a former Winnipegger, I can't complain about
this... still, it's not a good thing to have happen.

								Jim

Trivia: The last Waterloo graduate to play in the CFL was Frank Kosec, with the
Montreal Alouettes/Concordes.

As a native Albertian, there's the West and then there's B.C. ;-)
